FIA Formula One World Championship also referred to as Formula 1 or F1 is the highest grade single seater which is governed by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) which is known as the governing body of many racing events, as in the case with football’s FIFA and cricket’s ICC. Thw word series of races which are held on specially designed tracks also knows as Circuits. A Formula One Grand Prix event spans a weekend. It begins with two free practice sessions on, and one free practice on Saturday. A qualifying session is held after the last free practice session. This session determines the starting order for the race on Sunday. The results of each race is later combined to determine two world championship title Driver and Constructors. “Formula” in the name stands for the rules all the participating vehicles should follow. The formula 1 car travels at speeds of 330 kmh and are regarded as one of the world’s fastest circuit racing cars. The performance of the cars is highly dependent on electronics and engineering. Due to some some engineering marvels a formula 1 car has very high cornering speeds. Due to the high speeds the formula1 driver could experience up to 5g’s of force. The performance of the cars is very dependent on electronics – although traction control and other driving aids have been banned since 2008 – and on aerodynamics, suspension and tyres The formula has had much evolution and change through the history of the sport.

Ever since the inaugural championship of 1950 which consisted of only 7 races, the number of grand prix a season has varied over the years and has almost tripled in size. The 2011 season of Formula 1 consisted of 19 grand prix in which India hosted its first ever grand prix.
